Project Overview

About the project

Gauge is a Flutter-based KPI tracking app where users can register, log in, and manage KPIs from a dashboard. They can add, update, delete, and filter KPIs by date range, view performance through Syncfusion charts, and generate PDF reports to export or share via email. The app uses BLoC/Cubit architecture and runs on both iOS and Android.

Gauge was built for a team that was reporting its numbers from a spreadsheet nobody could open on the road. They wanted the same KPIs on a phone: quick to enter, easy to compare over a period, and ready to send on as a report.

Key Features

What Gauge does

The features at the heart of the mobile app, as built and delivered by our team.

  • Registration and Login

Users can register and log in.

  • KPI Dashboard

Users manage KPIs from a dashboard.

  • KPI Management

Users can add, update, and delete KPIs.

  • Date-Range Filters

KPIs can be filtered by date range.

  • Performance Charts

Performance is shown through Syncfusion charts.

  • PDF Reports

PDF reports to export or share via email.

The Challenges

What we had to solve

  1. Charts on a small screen A year of daily KPI points does not fit a phone, so the range is aggregated before it reaches the chart and the user chooses the window.
  2. Reports that leave the app PDF export had to look the same on both platforms, so the document is composed from the same layout the app draws rather than from a screenshot.
  3. Working with no signal Entries are written to the device first and synced when the connection returns, with the most recent edit winning a conflict.
  4. One codebase, two platforms BLoC/Cubit keeps the state out of the widgets, so iOS and Android share the logic and differ only where the platform insists.
